—(••÷ F E M I N I N E ÷••)— ⁠ Unleashing your “inner goddess” sounds all fine & dandy, but when your plate is super full & stress levels are high, embodying that gorgeous, divine energy can be challenging. With tasks piling up all around us & super long to-do lists, we can spend all our time living from our more masculine side – channeling loads of results-oriented “yang” energy at the expense of its gentler feminine complementary energy of “yin.” Of course, there’s nothing wrong with getting your yang on from time to time, in fact, as I preach & teach in my work with women 1:1 & in workshops, it is an essential & potent energy of the first half of your cycle days 7-21-ish that compels breakthroughs & makes massive things happen full steam ahead-like; being in your yang serves a purpose. But as women, we can run into problems when that’s the energy we’re embodying too much of most of the time. Neglecting our feminine side can result in stress, fatigue, resentment, & a persistent sense of dissatisfaction with your life. In severe cases, it can even lead to issues with your cycle (i.e. PMS, PCOS, Endometriosis, fibroids, etc.), other physical & emotional/mental illnesses, & burnout. Waking and Dreaming Worlds . The dreaming or spirit world is different from the waking world, obviously, but there is a common link. That common link is us and our ability to sense the different worlds. Our memories and feelings go with us when we cross the divide from waking to dreaming and back again. . If you remember your dreams, you know they resemble your waking life or have components from the waking time—even when very different. Similarly, we can wake up unsettled (or happy) from dreams and carry those emotions into our waking days. . Taoists have methods for ‘dream practice,’ which involve bridging the divide between the two worlds. The belief is that we can gain lessons, visit deceased (or living) friends/ancestors, and recharge (or exhaust) our physical bodies. I’ve had the experience of removing (or curing) recurring bad dreams with these techniques. . The first steps in Taoist Dream Practice are similar to the other first steps I always mention here. These steps are: . •building up the physical body and the energy body through the microcosmic orbit, •finding our center through iron shirt chi kung, •practicing the fusion of the five elements to help find our way back from the murky dream world, and •the six healing sounds clear our emotions so we don’t spend dream time clearing out the ‘junk’ from the day. . Then, when we’ve paid off the sleep debt (this may take weeks of over-sleeping) and are ready for ‘dream practice,’ we can state an intention. As we fall asleep, we say to ourselves “I remember my dreams,” “I am open to insights about _____,” “I wake up recharged,” or we can do our favorite meditation practice and hold onto it as long as we can. The aim here is to prolong the space between waking and sleeping to be more conscious as the body falls asleep. HOW TO PRACTICE WALKING MEDITATION Walking meditation is a way to practice moving without a goal or intention. Mindful walking simply means walking while being aware of each step and of our breath. It can be practiced anywhere, whether you are alone in nature or with others in a crowded city. You can even practice mindful breathing and walking meditation in between business appointments or in the parking lot of the supermarket. Walking on this planet is a joy. Mindful walking allows us to be aware of the pleasure of walking. We can keep our steps slow, relaxed, and calm. There is no rush, no place to get to, no hurry. Mindful walking can release our sorrows and our worries and help bring peace into our body and mind. We can practice walking meditation alone, with another person, or with a group. Placing our footsteps one after the other slowly and in silence, we can create joy with each step.
